“Upsell. An 85 year old woman. We wanted something simple done. Instead, we got a whole project going on over several days that we could not afford. Then they send 2 men who have no idea what they are doing and waste the whole day. They admit they dont know what they are doing, after several hours. So they send experienced workers the next day. That is 2 lost days of work for me. Thanks! We only wanted filtered drinking water system fixed. They had no idea how to do it. Admited they were unfamiliar with our system. It is the only thing not done after a few days of work. Dang. I pray that today they finally get job done that we hired them for.”

“Our projects never go smoothly and this was no exception. When they came back to hook up our two sinks they could not finish the kitchen sink due to lack of parts. The second utility sink, they left undone and just did the p-trap. I am not sure where the miscommunication came from, but in no way did I hire a plumber to just do the ptrap and not hook up the faucet. Extremely disappointed in where they left us.”

“American Rooter & Drain is a pressure-sales company masquerading as a plumbing service. The technician himself was fine. The business practices were not. We were quoted $15,000 for a full re-pipe on a ~600 sq ft house with one bathroom, one kitchen, and one laundry line, a number so wildly inflated it immediately raised red flags. When we said we wanted time to think, that should have been the end of it. Instead, we were repeatedly pushed to buy on the spot, including being tag-teamed by the tech and someone on the phone. When that didn’t work, they pivoted to financing and pushed us to check a financing company “just to see what we could afford.” They opened the line and requested a credit card without my authorization. That credit line had to be canceled and resulted in a credit hit, all because they refused to take “we need time” as an answer. This wasn’t consultation. It was coercion. If you don’t want to be boxed into a massive financial decision through annoyance, pressure, and financing games, look elsewhere. Edit: This company DID NOT reach out to me to discuss their predatory practice, as they said they would in their response. I lost 44 points on my credit because of them. This is the absolute WORST company I've ever had the displeasure of dealing with.”

“I called for a clogged drain. I was offered the water jet option for $1500 and when I declined he said he could snake it for $800 but he strongly recommended the $1500 option. It’s a clogged drain, how can it possibly cost this much? When I declined both I was informed I still had to pay the $69 service call. I called another company and they cleared it for $300. Make sure you ask what the cost may be before they come out.”

“I LEFT A 5 STAR REVIEW AND I TAKE IT BACK! DEAKIN came to fix my sink was here for a couple hours and everything is worse than before. They make you leave a 5 star review immediately after the service is done and it’s to hide the abundance of bad reviews. The sink was clogged, clog is gone but they left without finishing their work so what now they have to come back? The sink is falling off the wall. it is leaking and all of the stuff they moved out of the bathroom and where “putting back” FOR AN HOUR is just on the floor in the hall. Fix it! literally holding up the sink with my hand thank god for the piece under the sink covering the pipes. notice the bucket under the sink we had to add because they just left and it is already leaking. not cool..”

“Even a 1/4 of a star is to much scam artists heard form another party that worked with a fellow American rooter person they take advantage and boy did they to me a few times. Absolute disgrace taking advantage of elderly as well second opinion people. Do not do business with American rooter unless you want drain your bank account literally 👎🏽 Quoted me at 23k to did plum entire line to the street 100ft. Got a local company including excavator 6500$. They’ll take u to the cleaners. Shameful company”

“I called American Rooter on 2/26/25 for a clogged kitchen drain, (Home of the $59 drain clean). The technician was professional and courteous. He briefly attempted to clear the drain with a mechanical auger before stating that hydrojetting was necessary. He then quoted me over $2,000 to hydrojet the entire house, when the only issue I had was one kitchen drain line, about 25’ to the clean-out outside. I declined, paid the $59 service fee, and called a competitor. The competitor arrived within two hours, took his time using the same auger, and successfully cleared the drain. He showed me the clean-out in the front yard, confirming water was flowing properly—all for about $200. This felt like a classic bait-and-switch, and I wonder how many people fall for this. Be cautious when using this company!”

“Do not trust a word they say; even in writing, do not trust a word they say. I told you my problems. You told me your solutions. We agreed upon a price ($6300 and change). After deconstructing my home, you tell me I need to agree to another $1700 for you to properly finish the job. You did not solve a single problem. It still takes about two minutes to get hot water into the kitchen sink. In that time, the kitchen drain backs up. So replacing the water heater and re-piping the drain did nothing. Replacing the handle on the toilet did not stop it from running. All of this for a $25 piece of plastic that can be purchased at Home Depot.”

“I will never use this company again, didn't even fix the problem I needed fixed in the first place. Only tried to sell me repairs that would have cost me thousands of dollars that I can't afford or get financed.”

“I called because one of the pipes for my well broke and I needed them to repair it. After pay $190 for the fee to come up then he went through and looked at it and he would never tell me if he could repair it or not all he wanted to do is tell me about financing to get things done. It was 3000 4000 or 12,000 was replace everything but all I needed was one thing done. So I called another plumber and $375 later it was fixed and all new piping throughout.”

“For a pressure wash and a camera of the main line to the road. About 50ft of pipe. $2000. They even offer a payment plan. $75 a month for 2 years. Haha. I'll buy my own equipment for that. But very professional ground crew. Good luck to everyone out there. Learn the trade and save money.”

“An update on my previous review of over a year ago. Since the original review I was a loyal customer of American Rooter and Drain including an annual service contract, replacement of a thermostat, and other purchases. Today I requested service to replace the toilet tank parts ( A Fluidmaster) and was told they would only do the work if they provided their own parts which would be priced at 200%-400% above what I could buy them for at a Home Depot. I had already bought the part and after making an appointment, they called back cancelling to be told, thanks but sorry we will only do the work if we can provide and charge you for the parts as part of the service call. So after spending hundreds of dollars over the past year and a half, with American Drain, their business decision was to lose a customer for life over not being able to charge and provide a toilet flushing part. Ironic.”
